In the latter part of 2011, with my second child on the way, I found myself reading something that no father ever wants to read: an eviction notice. It was only 3 years prior that I walked away from my teaching career to attempt to live a self-employed life. Now, here I stood, facing the music! I was more upset than words could describe. I blamed everyone for my predicament – everyone except me!

With a bad attitude, a defeated heart, and now a 30-day time limit, I did the only thing I possibly could: I moved back home, with family, to stay with my mother. I had no choice. My wife was over 8 months pregnant. My illusions that were bought with debt were wiped away in a flash. I went from the top of the world to the bottom of the barrel.

Yet, what emerged from that chaos is the most beautiful story of my life, and one I want to spread in hopes of supplying hope to all of us who inevitably face the music and hate the song.

I had to sell almost everything I had in order to scrape by. I worked nights in a factory, took odd jobs here and there, waited tables, whatever I could find. My attitude was one of a victim, “It surely can’t be my fault!” And then, there at the bottom, I finally heard God’s message: Faith is a verb best learned in times of despair. Possessions and status are follies of pride.

Now, only 6 years later, I hold a position at the corporate level of a successful company. I have come full circle from evicted to executive. It is all thanks to my prior struggles. I am living proof that no matter what you face, if you learn how to be teachable, you will overcome and be blessed because of it.

Yet, I want you hear me face to face. The way people used talk and listen.  I think you will be inspired!
