It was my distinct pleasure, as Chair of the Communications Department to hire Don Forss as a Communication Instructor.  Don was coming off a serious stroke and still had the vestiges of a slight speech impediment.  Given the reluctance of most people to take a speech class, I thought Don Forss would be an ideal Speech Instructor.  Don was and is an inspiring teacher.  His personal story trumps anything anyone in his class could use as an excuse for not performing at their highest capability.  Don’s students loved him because of his patience and natural friendliness as well as his childlike belief that any student in his class was capable of doing remarkable things that even they did not dream they could do.  All any student in one of Don’s classes had to do was look at and listen to Don and they knew they had a friend would be standing by to make sure that they did not give up on themselves.  Don Forss is not only an incredibly outstanding teacher; he is an inspiration to me, his students and all with whom he comes in contact.

Don has a deep understanding of the Bible and what it means to be a Christian. He shares his willingly shares his knowledge with everyone, especially those seeking the Lord. Don takes a genuine interest in the individuals he works with and gets to know them well so that he can guide and mentor them in their life position.

Don has an incredible a gift from God to extrapolate the quintessence of a passage.  He can communicate a thought in terms that can greatly help the reader understand his or her position more clearly before God.  On many occasions he has explained things concerning me that I was not capable of explaining myself, due to his gifting, which I believe is prophetic.  Enjoy Don and his giftedness in teaching.
